Most young women seeking for jobs are often confronted with this saying, ‘Use what you have to get what you want’.
A situation that has caused some women to loose their jobs even though they qualify, but the question is, are the men always to be blamed for sexually harassing women before employing them?
Mrs. Mary Ama Bawa, the morning show host of ATL fm in Cape Coast, has revealed that, most young women are usually harassed sexually for jobs and grades in schools due to their way of dressing and the mannerisms they exhibit towards their employers or lecturers.
“The way a woman will dress for a job interview or for lectures, sit and cross her legs, the way she will talk, throw her hands about, with all these mannerisms gives a signal to the employer or the lecturer that the act can be initiated” ……she said.
She made this revelations on the Ewuraba Show, a girl-talk show on Okokroko96.9fm hosted by Abena MzTina.
“You might want to meet the qualification but you can end up been taken as somebody who you are not “…She added.
She went further to advice young women to be very mindful of the signs mentioned above to avoid them being sexually harrased by employers for jobs and by lecturers for grades.
“Ensure that you don’t carry wrong signals with your dressing and mannerisms ” she advised.
She further encouraged women to speak up and say no to sexual harrasment both at workplaces and in schools.
