The Anglican Diocese of Cape Coast, led by the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. Victor Reginald Atta-Baffoe, has held a ground breaking ceremony at the University of Education’s north campus, Winneba for the construction of a hostel complex.

The Hostel will comprise of 56 rooms, each with a private bathing facility capable of hosting a maximum of 4 students per room. 8 of these rooms are disabled accessible for the use of persons living with various forms of  disabilities.

The ground floor of the hostel complex will house shared amenities and commercial spaces including a porters lodge, multipurpose hall, reading room, convenience shop, hair salon and management office.

Speaking in an exclusive  interview with Okokroko FM’s Kweku Bee Abrante, the Cape Coast diocesan bishop of the Anglican Church, Rt. Rev. Victor Reginald Atta-Baffoe PhD  DD revealed that, the move was a way of solving the housing deficit in Winneba, especially in the school, and also  a strategy to ensure financial sustainability of the  Anglican Church of the diocese in effectively propagating the gospel of Christ.

He added the project will cost US$ 25,000 to  complete the fist phase at the North campus, after which proceeds will be used to continue the project and subsequently engage same project at the South campus.
One of the consultants for the project, Architect Kofi Koomson from networks of architects said, local materials will only be used in executing the project.
A special confirmation service, was also held at Winneba Archdeaconry at the St. John the Divine Parish for 10 candidates from the National Union of Anglican students (NUAS) in the University of Education, Winneba.

The candidates made up of 5 men and 5 ladies , were taken through the process of affirming their faith for which they have been baptized and their intention to live a life of committed discipleship
They were taken through the process by  by the Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Victor Reginald Atta – Baffoe PhD  DD and supported by Ven. Augustine Kofi Buadi, Rev. Canon R. O. Ankrah, Rev. Fr. Alexander Appian and Rev. Fr. James Andoh – Appian.
They ladies  are Adu- Fuachie Gloria, Spain Francisca, Owusu Serwaa Priscilla, Enimil Abigail and Offoe Shina
The men are Boateng Joseph, Opoku Ebenezer, Botwey George, Boafo Ampem Richard and Appiah Akoto Francis.
