The Managing Director (MD) of the TDC Tema Development Company Limited, Madam Alice Ofori-Atta has assured the newly created Tema West Municipal Assembly of close collaboration as part of their efforts to develop the district.
She was optimistic the partnership will go a long way to give major facelift to areas such as Community 2 and 5 as well as Texpo market among others.
According to the MD, TDC Company Limited as a leader in the real estate and management of towns and cities believes that collaboration is key to develop Tema West District in order to improve the living conditions of the people in the area.
Madam Ofori-Atta gave the assurance
when the Member of Parliament (MP) of Tema West Constituency, Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah paid a courtesy on her.
She further promised her outfits preparedness to provide the needed technical expertise and the needed resources to accelerate development in the new district.
According to her, TDC will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to plan and develop Tema metropolis and continue to carry on the objectives of the company per the law.
She urged residents to be concerned about keeping a clean environment whiles being conscious of their personal safety as part of their contribution to national development.
“We should all resolve to have a new sense of renewal towards unity, peace and commitment towards building a prosperous nation. It is therefore important for us to comport ourselves in a manner that will not sway us away from the right side of the law and national development.
” I am assuring the people of the newly created district of our contribution towards the development of area,” the MD stated.
For his part, Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah who is also the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry said the encounter was to solicit support and discuss ways TDC could help facilitate the development of the newly created municipality.
He appealed to TDC as a leader in the real estate industry to assist him develop Lashibi, Baatsona, Klagon and the new communities with appropriate demarcations of these areas to forestall the perennial event of flooding in the area.
The MP expressed his willingness to partner TDC and other development stakeholder s use the proper procedures in the removal of unauthorised structures, stating that ” In as much as we would want to remove such structures that obstruct the original layout we must embark on adequate sensitisation and give them some grace period prior demolition.”
He called on development authorities to be proactive in their monitoring, and appealed to TDC Company Ltd as a member of the joint Permitting Technical Committee to speed up the vetting of building and land documents as a way of curtailing the erection of illegal structures.
The meeting was aimed to discuss possible ways of partnering the newly created Tema West Municipal Assembly to spearhead development in Tema.
Some topical issues discussed at the meeting included the upsurge of unplanned developments in newly developing areas.

Darkey, Head of Estates, Kwasi Darko Asar, Protocol Officer, Ian Okwei, Facilities and Safety Supervisor, Bernard Tawiah, Chief Internal Auditor, Daniel Ayiam, Legal Director, Kwabena S. A. Nyanor and Lawyer Aikins of the legal department.
