A fatal accident at Yabiw-Apimanim on the Shama road has this morning claim 3 lives including the mate of the bus with many others seriously injured.
15 patients consist of 9 male patients and 3 female patients were taken to Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
The accident occurred when a Youtong Bus with registration number Freedom 1-15 collided with a Tipper Truck with registration number GE 3350-14 at Yabiw-Apimanim in the Shama district of the western region.
According to information gathered by Gn Media,Atv indicate that the Youtong Bus which was onboard by Ivorians where travelling from Aflao to Elubo in the Western Region veered off it’s course in the path of the on-going Tipper Truck due to an uncompleted rump on the road resulting in the collision.
The witness noted that there was no road signs indicating the construction of the road rump by the contractor.
The dead has been conveyed to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital mortuary for autopsy, pending identification by families members from Ivory Coast.
Those who have sustained multiple injuries were initially sent to Shama Health Centre for medical attention and later referred to Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
Gn Tv/Atv reporter Simon Ahensah In an interview with the Emergency Specialist at Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital Dr. George Owusu confirm the incident and said some of the patients have been referred to the ward whiles the others are still at the emergency ward unit.
Dr. Owusu indicated three of the patients have refused to receive treatment at the hospital thereby requesting the authorities to discharge him to continue medical treatment home.
He said the injuries sustained are Fractures, Lacerations and Bruises and they are in a stable condition responding to treatment.
Residents at area are blaming failure of the contractor to provide road signs on the road indicating the construction of the road rump as cause of the accident.
