OYOKO: CHIEFS COMMEND PRESIDENT FOR CREATION OF NEW MUNICIPALITY

Five divisional chiefs of the New Juaben Traditional area has commended the President for honouring his campaign message by the creation of new municipality for the chiefs and people of New Juaben North constituency.

The creation of the new districts form part of governments’ quest to bring governance to the doorstep of the people through decentralization.

The five chiefs expressed their gratitude at a press conference held at Oyoko in the new Juaben municipality of the Eastern Region on Sunday.

The New Juaben North Municipality was calved from the New Juaben Municipality. The two constituencies, new juaben south and new juaben north which has one municipal Assembly have been splited for which each has municipal Assembly through the creation of new one

As part of bringing governance to the doorstep of the people and fulfilling its campaign promises, government has created additional six districts to the existing twenty – six (26) in the Eastern region totaling all to thirty – two (32). The five divisions of New Juaben who showed gratitude to the government includes, Effiduase, Asokore, Oyoko, Jumapo and Suhyen.

The Local Government Act 2016 (Act 963) enjoined the government to create more metropolises, municipalities and district assemblies for an enhanced development that will accelerate the well being of the people. 

Reading the press statement on behalf of the five divisional chiefs, the Effiduase hene of new Juaben Okoawia Dwomo Baabu II believes the creation of the new municipality will enhance development that will accelerate the well being of the people in the area. He said the new municipality will not only carve a notch for their identity but also catapult their resolve to the system that could make growth, development and availability of leadership complete.

They assured the government of their unity of purpose, commitment and cooperation to the realization of the development of the new municipality in the region.

They acknowledged the role the deputy local government minister, Nana Adjei Boateng and the board chairman if the Ghana cocos board, Hackman Owusu Agyeman played in ensuring their aspiration become reality.
