Call him the ‘saviour’ of the day and you won’t be very far from accurate.
Newton Jimmy Stephen was not the only contestant representing his school; St. Augustines College in the 2019 National Science and Maths Quiz (NMSQ) but he definitely left a mark with his ‘magic’ during the riddle and True/False stages of the competition at the two final laps of the competition.
His remarkable skills got him trending on most social media platforms particularly after the quarter final stage after he answered correctly all questions posed at him in the last two rounds of the competition.
Newton did not disappoint in the grand finale either, he got his team to carry home the new trophy and the title for the second time.
Expressing gratitude to God for Augusco’s success in the competition, he said, “We are very happy that we are victors today…We are very happy that our hard work has paid off and the Almighty God has not forsaken us”.
Nathaniel Mensah, who was stiff competition for Newton in the riddle and true/false rounds said “To some point, we are disappointed but then, it’s all good. We are going to prepare very well and come back next year. Expect nothing but the best in 2020 NSMQ”, he said.
