Following an intensive consultation between government, stakeholders and industrial players, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is charged with immediate effect suspend all VAT on 64 import commodities which started on March 1st, 2018.
The sixty-four commodities includes, Electrical Transformers, Tractors for Agricultural Purposes, Concrete and Mortar Mixers, Outboard Motors, Solar cells, Musical Instruments, Day Old Chicks and others.
Also, the proposed fumigation levy for shippers has been indefinitely suspended.
In an intercepted statement from the ministry of information signed by the minister, Mr. MUSTAPHA Abdul-Hamid on the review of Port Levies and Duties, said, further details of other affected products would be outlined by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in due course.
According to the statement, government was grateful to all stakeholders for their participation in the engagement sessions and looks forward to a substantive resolution of the challenges faced by the importers and shippers.
