Deputy Minister for Trade and Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency, Hon. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah together with his constituents on May day, embarked on a clean up exercise as part of measures to ensure a clean and safe environment .
The cleanup was targeted at gutters and drains in the constituency to make it flood free during the upcoming rainy season.
According to the deputy minister, the exercise forms part of his constituency’s contribution in support of the government’s priority in making Accra the cleanest city in West Africa.
Speaking to the media at the event, the Deputy Trade minister said his constituency has been bedevilled with flooding over the years and as part of measures to take this albatross off our necks, desilting gutters and drains to make them free for flow of water is paramount. He also promised that, the Klagon-Lashibi bridge which was abandoned by the erstwhile NDC administration will be fixed in due course by his government.
“This bridge you see there halfway has been abandoned for over 5 years now, and businesses are collapsing because of the nature of the road, but I’m assuring you by June this year work will resume on this bridge to pave way for the construction of the road”
He assured the general public and constituents of Tema West particularly, that, the government is working tirelessly to fulfil his 1district-1factory promise which will create more jobs for the youth and added that other initiatives are currently underway to support young entrepreneurs and the less privileged in the society. “The government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is unlike the NDC government”, he concluded
